In planning a New Years Eve party, one of the most exciting items is the selection of cocktails for the party. New Years Eve is a holiday which is largely associated with alcohol consumption. Conversely they are likely to consumer significantly more cold cocktails during the course of the evening. For this reason, it is recommended to provide both hot and cold cocktails during your New Years Eve party.  

Regardless of the type of cocktails you decide to serve throughout the evening, it is customary to offer a champagne cocktail at midnight. You should begin distributing the champagne a few minutes before midnight to ensure everyone has their glass in hand to make a toast and take a sip of the bubbly champagne at midnight. Offering the champagne in an elegant glass and including a strawberry in the glass can create a more elegant presentation. You should also use a fine champagne. During the evening, you may have served alcohols which fit your budget, but it is worthwhile to splurge on a more expensive champagne for the toast at midnight.

Holiday Deals For New Years Eve Questions

First time New-Yorkers?

Like my many other questions, this one deals with my upcoming trip to NYC. My husband and I are vacationing between 12/24 - 12/28 for our one year anniversary. How are things going to be on Christmas Eve and Day? Will all of the stores be closed for the holidays? Any suggestions for things that we can do on those days?

Also, we want to take the Staten Island Ferry...however, i know we have to get off in order to re-board. Should we walk around Staten Island for a few hours? Any suggestions on what to do there?

While lots of things will be closed on Christmas and New Years, lots will be open as well. It's kind of hit or miss, but most places do close for those days (those are major holidays after all!)

But the truth is, you can have fun in NYC just walking around Manhattan. You don't need things to be open to have a great time in NYC!

As for the ferry, the truth is, there is nothing within a close walk of the ferry that is interesting to see. There are many interesting things to see on Staten Island, but you'd have to take a bus, train or cab from the ferry. If you feel like doing that, you might head to the Snug Harbor Cultural Center, though it's a much nicer place to visit in warm weather! (They have lovely gardens there!)

I really would advise getting off and getting right back on at this time of year, to be honest.

Is after Winter Holidays sale as extravegant as Thanksgiving sale?

I was wondering if the New Years Eve sale is comparible to Thanksgiving sale. Do as many people line up and are the sales well as the Thanksgiving sales?

I am 17 years old and have been holding 2 jobs for nearly a year. I have been saving up and I bought 2 laptops during Thanksgiving as gifts. One was a gift to my sister going away to college and another was a gift for a friend. I am hoping to get a great deal for myself now though.

I'm sure other teenagers are curious about these sales so any information is appreciated. Mainly, I want to know if I should line up early or not like I did for Thanksgiving.

i do believe that after Christmas sales are the best most things will go 1/2 off. that's when i do my shopping for me, so I can get more for my money
